Meet Alexis Reed, The Wedding Wellness Coach

Alexis ReedAlexis means "helper and defender of mankind." After being a caregiver-type for years, I realized that the most effective way to help others is by empowering them to help themselves. And I am convinced that life coaching is the best way to do this.

I became a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), through the Coaches Training Institute, and have been coaching since 2003. I believe in coaching as a highly effective catalyst for personal development and change. I have seen coaching move my clients to achieve their biggest goals and beyond. It is truly powerful stuff!

I was inspired to focus on coaching brides when I got to the age when it seemed that everyone around me was getting married - including me! I was very focused on my intentions for my wedding and my marriage and had what I thought was a very conscious process that supported me. My wedding is still the single "accomplishment" I am most proud of in my life on many levels, and it was the most blissful, wonderful day ever! I am also proud of how I took care of myself before and after my wedding. I honestly only had two days of wedding planning stress during the whole year!

Unfortunately, I saw friends who were getting married having a very different experience. They seemed to be missing out on so much because their attention was always on worry and stress. It was then that I started looking at the bigger picture.

As I looked around to a broader population, I saw an imbalance in the conversation this culture was having about weddings. People, and especially the media, tend to highlight the doing and not the being of getting married. As an alternative, I provide a space in which the bride is empowered to take a breath and become present to the full meaning of what she is creating throughout her wedding journey. (See the WW Philosophy for more on the journey.) From here the bride can imagine, explore, and build her commitment to her partner in a conscious way.

I enjoy working with brides from all different backgrounds and in all loving relationships. I strive to help them honor their personal choices and celebrate the joy of togetherness, whether it be through marriage or another form of commitment.

I am a strong believer in the power and potency of women’s wisdom. To me, it is a gift that each of us holds within ourselves. Throughout my adult life I have explored my own wisdom through yoga, meditation, Reiki, and shamanism, as well as coaching. I believe that women’s wisdom is abundant and is most easily accessed when shared with other women.
